The John Atanasoff Society of Automatics and Informatics (SAI) is a creative professional not-for-profit organization. It connects experts and organizations in the fields of automation and informatics in Bulgaria. It was created back in 1990 upon the initiative of a pioneering group of leading Bulgarian researchers in the fields.
SAI has established itself as the largest creative professional organization in the country. The members of SAI are leading researchers and experts, as well as research organizations, educational institutions, departments, private and government bodies from across the country.
SAI is registered as a non-for-profit public organization, and has its headquarters at the premises of the House of Science and Technology in Sofia, Bulgaria
SAI maintains interactions and collaborations with similar professional societies in the country and abroad.
By the initiative of the SAI in 2007, the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Bulgaria defined the 4th of October – the birthday of John Atanasoff – to be a day to celebrate the specialists in information technologies, computer technologies and automation in Bulgaria.
